Local families of Melton City Council now have access to vital early years services closer to home. The Weir Views Children’s & Community Centre provides a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space where the community can connect, learn, and belong.
The brand-new facility includes a four-room kindergarten, each with direct access to secure and engaging outdoor play areas. This component was managed as a D&C package and is designed to support flexible learning and active play. Staff amenities have also been incorporated to ensure functionality for day-to-day operations.
The Centre also provides Maternal and Child Health services, housing two dedicated consulting rooms, providing a professional and accessible environment for community health services. Additionally, the inclusion of a multi-use community centre enables a wide range of local programs, events, and initiatives. Externally, two large car parks have been constructed to service the new building.
The building structure incorporates glulam structural timber beams, offering a sustainable alternative that delivers both strong structural performance and a warm architectural aesthetic internally. The façade is defined by custom-moulded precast concrete panels featuring Brighton Lite flute detailing with arched and concave forms. The manufacturing process utilised custom, bespoke metal formwork, with five separate moulds required during casting. Each base form was convex on the casting bed, with laser-cut pipes precisely aligned and welded into position. Square rebates and edge details were incorporated to achieve the final concave face of the arched panels.
We are delighted to have delivered this facility which will play a vital role in supporting local families during the critical, early years — helping to lay the foundations for health, connected, and resilient communities.
