Careers In Construction.

Shaping Pathways, Empowering the Next Generation.

Newpol Construction was proud to visit both Avila College and Sacred Heart Girls’ College to engage with Year 9 and Year 10 students about career pathways in the construction industry.

These visits were especially meaningful for our team, as we’ve delivered major projects at both schools. At Avila College, we completed the construction and extension of the new, two-storey Welcome and Administration Centre. We are currently constructing the final stage of the College’s Master Plan — the two-storey St Teresa Library and Research Centre, featuring a striking exposed CLT and GLT timber structure.

At Sacred Heart Girls’ College, we recently completed the Wominjeka Centre, a three-storey student facility named after the Woiwurrung word meaning “to come with purpose” or “welcome” — officially opened last year.

It was a privilege to have four of our female leaders — Kaylee Ellis, Liz Holzschuster, Ayesha Saib, and Karla Ruff — represent Newpol at the schools and share their personal journeys in the construction industry. Their presentations highlighted the wide range of roles available in construction, the challenges and rewards of the job, and the importance of increased female representation across all areas of the industry.

“As a Project Manager, I’ve created safe housing for women and children escaping violence, developed social housing, and built inclusive sports facilities for people with disabilities. In my role I have the ability to impact hundreds of people.”

Ayesha Saib

At Newpol, we are passionate about encouraging the next generation — particularly young women — to explore careers in construction and trades, a pathway that many may not have considered. Through partnerships like these, we are not only constructing futures through enhanced facilities, but also investing in future industry leaders.

Our sincere thanks to Avila College and Sacred Heart Girls’ College for the warm welcome and for supporting initiatives that connect education with real-world industry insights.
