This Design & Construct contract for a mixed-use development involved the demolition of the rear of the existing building, and the construction of four levels; incorporating three office spaces, two high-end apartments, and a rooftop terrace. The building design retained the existing front and side facades, and whist introducing a new, modern structure. A motorised roof access hatch allows residents to escape to the rooftop terrace, which offers stunning views of the Melbourne city skyline. When closed, the glazed feature further serves as a skylight, flooding the penthouse apartment with natural light. The project team overcame major challenges with accessibility, as well as delays caused by COVID-19.
